Each year the City of McCall’s Recreation Department hosts dozens of programs for McCall residents, visitors, and the surrounding communities. In 2018, we had over 1800 registrations for our recreation programs including softball/baseball, youth soccer, mountain bike camp, tennis, winter break field trips, toddler cooking class, Mile High Mile Open Water swim event, Celebration of Trees event and much more.
The mission of our department is to enhance the quality of life for community youth and adults through recreation programs and outdoor spaces. In order to further meet our mission and set our sights towards enhancing our department to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
Our Parks Department is responsible for the maintenance of City parks, public spaces, waterfront and swim zones—including the boat launch ramp, City docks and pump station, undeveloped areas and the grounds of City-owned buildings and parking lots.
Additionally, the Parks and Recreation Department staffs the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, The Tree Committee and The Environmental Advisory Committee. We also participate in most McCall Redevelopment Agency meetings, McCall Improvement Committee meetings, Public Art Advisory Committee meetings and Valley County Waterways.
Lastly, we are also responsible for public building and facility maintenance including all public art, downtown seasonal decorations including light pole banners, as well as noxious weed control along all right-of-ways and City-owned properties, and the management and oversight of the community forest and community forestry program—including arboricultural duties.
Our door is always open to discuss programs, park facilities and more we welcome any suggestions you may have to help improve the department. We might be away from the office or
