Our municipal golf course, nestled in the mountains and blanketed by over 100 inches of snow annually, is seeking a Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent to lead our grounds team. About the Role - As the Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent, you will oversee the preparation, maintenance, and enhancement of our 27-hole course, ensuring it meets high-quality standards despite the challenges of a condensed season and winter weather conditions. This is a full-time FLSA exempt position.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive turf management plan tailored to high-elevation conditions.
- Manage snow removal, spring thaw preparation, and winterization strategies.
- Oversee all maintenance operations, including mowing, irrigation, and chemical applications.
- Lead and mentor a dedicated grounds crew, fostering a team-oriented culture.
- Collaborate with the management team to ensure the course meets and exceeds player expectations.
- Maintain compliance with environmental and safety standards.
- Manage budgets, equipment, and inventory efficiently.
Qualifications
- Diploma or equivalent required; Degree in Agronomy, Turfgrass Science, or related field preferred; and
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in golf course turf grass management required which must include some supervisory experience.
- Proven experience as a Golf Course Superintendent, preferably in mountain or cold-weather climates.
- Expertise in turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and course conditioning.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing weather and seasonal demands.
- Commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
