City of McCall Announces Selection of New City Manager, Forest Atkinson    

McCall, Idaho – August 23, 2024 – The City of McCall is proud to announce that Forest Atkinson has been selected as the new City Manager, following an extensive and competitive selection process. Mr. Atkinson will officially begin his role on November 4th, 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience in both federal and local government. His annual salary has been set at $170,000.

Forest Atkinson stood out among a strong pool of candidates due to his significant expertise in team leadership, strategic planning, and crisis management, as well as his proven ability to engage stakeholders and support infrastructure investments. His impressive background includes over twenty years of service, highlighted by key roles in the U.S. State Department and the San Francisco County Transportation Authority.

The decision to appoint Mr. Atkinson was made after careful consideration of feedback from the community, gathered during a Meet & Greet event held on August 12th at the Glass House. This event provided an opportunity for residents to engage with the finalists and share their perspectives with the City Council.

In his previous roles, Mr. Atkinson led government efforts supporting U.S. companies in multi-million dollar infrastructure investments, managed a $100 million security assistance program, and spearheaded major initiatives in the digital economy and cybersecurity. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Reed College and a Master of City Planning from UC Berkeley. Additionally, he is fluent in Mandarin and Portuguese, and proficient in Spanish.

Forest Atkinson's appointment marks a significant milestone for the City of McCall as it continues to grow and evolve. The City Council is confident that his leadership will guide the community toward continued success and development.
