Trivia Question: What book holds the record for being the book most stolen from public libraries?
(Answer is at the end of the newsletter)
“100 Books. 100 Days.” Was a summer reading challenge for adults and teens. Every book read from the PBS “America’s 100 Best-Loved” list earned a raffle ticket. The contest ran June 7 thru September 15, and the winner received a $50 Gift Card to Barn Owl Books! Robyn Armstrong’s Count of Monte Cristo entry was the lucky winner this year! (see attached picture) We had 41 participants in this new adult reading challenge.
Great American Read Book List
Construction Storytime
Our quiet little mountain town has been anything but quiet the last couple of months. The sounds of diesel motors, backup beeps, and jackhammers can be heard in the woods, on the lake, down by the river, and even at the library. You may have noticed that access to the library was very limited last month, but thank you for braving the streets and getting in here anyway! The City of McCall has begun the Downtown Core Project and you can read all about it here. The big diggers right out the front door have been fascinating both the young and the old, so we couldn't pass up an opportunity to let our little patrons explore these monsterous machines for storytime.
Back to Basics
Here is how to find an item in our library, whether you prefer to search our collection in the library, at home, or on the go!
Memorial Bench
The family of McCall's beloved Kerri Ann and Jurgen Hawkins have donated this lovely memorial bench to the McCall Library.
